Fashion Musings

“Humpday Mantra”! This next series of posts will highlight the essentials for Fall/Pre-winter. I want to share with you my “Favs for Fall”. First up, I want to feature this hand printed silk scarf. This is one of the limited pieces, that can be found exclusively at Eneez Studio Line. This is a hand made silk scarf printed with the ancient language of the adivasi (indigenous) tribe of “Warli” from India. The painting done here uses natural fruit and vegetable dyes and depicts the tribe’s animistic beliefs in their very own “Varli” language. Like “Eneez Studio Line” on facebook and get your scarf now! And guess what ? You get a 10% off discount for being a Freaky Curry reader! How awesome is that? I styled the scarf with a pair of rolled up denim jeans and a faux leather embossed sweatshirt… I just love the combination of leather and silk. It’s playful, chic and sassy.. A pair of suede booties scream Fall! A leopard print clutch is a great neutral to carry this season.. Hope you like the look. Stay cute in 2014!

“Humpday Mantra”! This post is dedicated to all my ladies who like a little bit of bling.. My girlies and I celebrated a few birthdays in our group this past weekend and we decided to have some fun! The plan was to take a salsa dance class and follow it up with dinner/drinks. Now I am the kinda girl who loves all things glitter and shiny, so I decided to “glam it up” with this sequenced shift hot pink dress… Tried to recreate a very DWTS look if you will. To tone down the heavy blingy look, I styled the dress with a dark denim jacket. The jacket gave the dress a cool, casual look without losing the “dressy” aspect. Simple gold accessories like strappy sandals, clutch and gold earrings complete the look. Hope you like it! Stay cute in 2014!!

“Humpday Mantra”! Happy Fall y’all!! If you know me you know that Fall is my absolutely favorite season! You don’t even have to ask why? You should already know. Fall means boots! Fall means scarves! Fall means soups and stews! Fall means cuddles and snuggles ! Fall means everything fantastic! Today’s post is all about welcoming Fall with open arms! A few staples that you absolutely need in your closet this fall are oxblood leather and Leopard print! Oh and if you remember, I did show you a preview of these two items last year. In this post today I styled a basic oxblood leather shift dress with a pair of fantastic leopard print pumps. A leopard print clutch (cause you CANNOT have enough leopard!), some bold gold hammered earrings and cuff completes the look. And can’t you tell I has WAY TOO MUCH fun with my phone today! Hope you like the look! Stay cute in 2014!

“Humpday” Mantra!! Whether you are planning a weekend getaway to the mountains with your honey or a quick spa trip across town with the girls, this outfit is sure to keep you comfy and chic this fall. Styling a pair of tribal drawstring blended pants with a graphic tee because really…girls just wanna have funds, right? This outfit screams “FUN” and “COMFORT”! Adding a well tailored denim jacket (this season’s must have) gives the outfit a cool, chic vibe.. Short booties and a nice leather statement travel bag makes you look like a seasoned yet stylish traveller. Just because you are comfy, doesn’t mean you cant look cute Hope you like the look! Stay cute in 2014!

“Humpday” Mantra!! Wanted to share with you another “transition” look. I styled a striped summer nautical skirt with a long sleeved graphic print T. I love how the colors in the Shirt play with the stripes on the skirt. I added a pair of mushroom open toed booties for this in- between weather. Closed toes booties are too hot for this weather right now. Added a “blinged” out Cross body bag in the same neural shade to add some pizazz! Neutral camel colored accessories are hot right now so invest in a pair of boots or a nice multi purpose bag. You will not regret it. Hope you like the look. Functional, easy and fun! Stay cute in 2014!

“Humpday” Mantra!! Can you believe it’s August already!!!?? Crazy! Today’s post is about creating “transition” looks with what you already have in your closet.. Using summer essentials like a silk blouse, basic boyfriend jeans and styling it with a lightweight cotton blazer.. Added a pair of tan wedges and my multi purpose tote. Accessories like the tribal collar necklace add a pop of color! None of these pieces are new mind you but the look is! Vibrant enough to last the end days of Summer and fresh enough to welcome fall! Hope you like the look. Stay cute in 2014!

“Humpday” Mantra!! Today’s post is about me!! Yep, just me! Giving a nod to myself on this post! It’s my Birthday tomorrow and I want to share with you …. Me and myself!!
A bit about me and my style; I am a big believer in coordinating new in-fashion pieces with vintage/worn by my mom(my fashion guru)/sentimental items. In this post, my first look is a very “Carrie Bradshaw” mid calf tulle skirt with a nautical striped silk top. I added an in-season denim jacket to add some structure to the voluminous skirt. I am wearing a statement vintage necklace, and some textured metallic pumps. I added a vintage purse (borrowed from my mom’s closet) to complete the look.
In my second look, I switched the metallic pumps with my bright neon patent and transparent pumps..They definitely make a “statement”.. The statement being “Fashion is as unique as you are! So have fun with it!”.. And to top it off, I think, this outfit is perfect to transition to fall too! Swap the pumps with some booties and you are good to go! Hope you like the look. Stay cute in 2014 and forever!

“Humpday” Mantra!! Today’s post is all about wearing linen. Growing up in India, with its hot and humid climate, I saw my mom wear linen all the time. I love its rustic, earthy and ofcourse breathable qualities. But truth be told, linen if not styled properly can look frumpy or just Sad..I found this pair of printed palazzo pants in a linen “blend”. Meaning they are part linen and part silk.. They are soft, breathable and don’t lose structure.. Perfect! I paired it with a crushed linen ruffle halter top in a bright “pop” color.. You know me and my shades of passion (red, orange, coral). Now lets talk shoes.. Yep, love my white “knock Em dead” heels which were a gift from a friend years back.. Love the wooden heel …perfect for summer.. Accessories include a bunch of metal bangles and a metal skin clutch to add some pizazz to the outfit.. I would call this outfit a perfect “resort” wear.. Hope you like it. Stay cute in 2014!

“Humpday” Mantra!! Flowers and Pearls…that’s today’s motivation. Feminine, delicate, fragile… All things Woman..and in a good way . I am NOT a floral person but when I saw this dress recently at a boutique, I knew I had to have it. It fit like a glove.. Cherry on the cake! Don’t you love it when that happens..I love the sash tie detail. It helps create a waist and gives the classic shift like dress some more structure. I styled it with neutrals because of the busy print on the dress. Blush shoes, nude eyelet purse and a simple matte gold cuff. I added the pearls and matte gold necklace to play into the femininity of the dress. A bold lip and nail color added the much needed “pop” for summer. Hope you like it. Stay cute in 2014! Also submitting this for the luckymag online community!

“Humpday” Mantra!! So today’s post is all about “the Capri” pant… You know the staple in everyone’s closet.. Capris, peddle pushers, cut offs…The oddly structured bottoms which no matter how you wear them make the whole outfit look Ummmmm uninspired.. Yep yep I am talking about the ones that we keep seeing every summer..in different colors and fabrics.. Let’s be real people.. We all buy them.. We just miss the mark on styling them.. In this post today, I took a pair of basic denim Capri pants and styled it with a fun polka dot silk top. The key to the pants is to have a slim fit all over, including legs, thighs and your butt. Relaxed fit is unflattering for the average sized woman and will make you look wide unnecessarily. I speak from experience my lovies.. I paired the fun polka dots with a striped wedge.. Mixing patterns in the same color make the outfit “less clown like”.. Makes it playful but chic. I have also shown my “Red, white and blue” spirit with a simple change in accessories. Hope you like the look. Stay cute in 2014! And have a safe 4th of July!

“Humpday” mantra! I’m “maxi”-ing it up again in this post!! I can’t seem to get enough of them. You know they say that “ahem” shorter people cannot carry off Maxis. I would like to politely disagree. I feel you can carry off Maxis whatever height you are as long as it’s tailored correctly and you have the right accessories. This is what I wore to a kids birthday recently and my date a.k.a my son thought I looked purrtty … So you know I had to take pictures.. Btw thats me hamming it up for the camera … The lensman is my brother who took some rather fun shots.. So you know I had to share.. I styled a striped maxi with a cropped white denim jacket. The key is to make sure the maxi reaches your ankles and doesn’t stop short of it or else it looks disproportionate on a petite frame. The jacket has to hit at or above waist or else it will swallow you up. I added a big statement necklace to move focus away from the stripes and of course used my orange red “pops” shoes!! I raided my moms closet for a fedora.. I love the feather details.. Simple details make an outfit.. Remember that..Hope you like this look. Stay cute in 2014!

“Humpday” mantra! I’m “maxi”-ing it up in this post today! This is what I wore to a lunch recently and my date thought I looked cute… So you know I had to take pictures! I styled a quintessential classic navy and white Aztec print maxi with “pops” of red! The shoes are canvas wedges so they breathe.. The wedge adds height without hurting my feet…So important when you have kids to run after… I love the color combo and I felt that the bright orange red necklace and shoes really made this outfit! I used silver bangles and a brown leather tote to break the monotony of the printed maxi. AND Yes.. That’s Mantra Zoè in my fedora.. Had to debut her … You will be seeing her and my fedora in a lot of my future posts.. Hope you like this look. Stay cute in 2014!

“Humpday” mantra! Collab time!! Rompers, Rompers and more Rompers!! These are all the rage right now! They are fun, flirty and oh so cute! You can wear them casually or elevate the look by just adding a few simple accessories. This one is from one of my favorite boutiques in town! Bevello! They have a beautiful array of clothes, accessories and shoes!! This particular romper by Mossique is one of their best sellers! I loved the flowy silky fabric and the summer-y print on it. The cool color combo played really well with some gold accessories. I wore my multi print yellow pumps and added more color by wearing a jeweled headband. And guess what??? All of their Mossique outfits are 50% right now! “Cherry on the cake”! Make sure to meet Ali at their south charlotte location and tell her you are a friend of Freaky Curry and me! She will take good care of you . Hope you like this look! Stay cute in 2014!

“Humpday” mantra! This post is the continuation of the series “Going back to work!” I styled the Classic LBD to make it work appropriate. Playing off on the colored zipper details, I paired the dress with a solid color cotton blazer perfect for summer. The scrunched up sleeves give some texture and detail to an otherwise simple line. The color adds the perfect amount of POP needed to awaken the black dress. I kept the shoes neutral to elongate the legs and not take away from the already colorful blazer. A long necklace increase the length of the torso. Hope you like it! Stay cute in 2014!

“Humpday” mantra! Collaboration time!! I had to showcase my mom’s boutique Eneez Studio Line in this post! I got a lot of love for this saree this past weekend which I especially co-designed and wore for my sister’s graduation. I say co-designed because that is the beauty of Eneez! They not only provide readymade wear but also help customize your ideas for an absolutely unique piece. Like this one!
Lime green and dull gold saree with hand embroidered gold motifs sewn on gathered pleats leading up to the long pallu. I love the gold sequined ribbon that surrounds the saree adding a touch of shimmer. The blouse is a basket weave inspired made of gold mesh in a choli style which can be used over a pair of dress pants for a modern flair. Check out Eneez Studio Line on facebook or contact Sarita Gupta at 980.225.3610 to design and order your next outfit!

This post is all about florals… Now if you have been following my posts you know I’m not a big floral person.. I don’t know why? Maybe because its too girly?! Lol I know.. I know.. Coming from me this is a shocker but I “was” not a big fan of florals.. Till I saw these pants.. I instantly fell in love with them .. So flowy, soft and oh so feminine. I paired them with a solid colored top kinda matching it with the pants but I can totally see some stripes in the future… Mixing patterns should be fun with this one.. I also loved my “arm party” a.k.a my bracelets for this look. The flowers on the arm swag help bring out the floral I think in the pants. Now… Let’s talk about the shoes.. Caged sandals..one word.. HOT!! ‘Nuff said! I LOVE THEM! You will be seeing more of these soon. Hope you liked the look. Stay cute in 2014!

This post is all about making a statement this spring/summer. Found these gorgeous pair of silk shorts at one of my fav boutiques in town. I knew I had to have them even though they were a bit snug on me..(Hello, post baby body!!) I styled these shorts two different ways.. One with a soft cream chiffon sheer top to keep it casual. The other way was to add a bright blazer to elevate the look to a sharper more of an evening look. Neon striped “statement” shoes and a bright bag add a pop of color! Mint and gold accessories compete the rainbow look. Hope you get inspired and add color to your wardrobe this season. Stay cute in 2014!

So I love me some polka dots! They are fun and flirty and oh so chic… You can dress them up or dress them down.. In this look I styled a basic pair of black and white polka dots cotton shorts with stripes.. Stripes with dots.. What??!? Yep, I did that! Look how cute and fun it turned out. Mixing patterns is in this season so get crazy with it! I accessorized this look with some cool and tranquil turquoise vintage jewelry and printed turquoise cork wedges. I think the color added the “pop” needed for the monochromatic look. Hope you like it. I love these shorts (and shoes) so you’ll be seeing them again thats for sure. “Humpday” “Pretty in Pink” motivation! It is Spring! Well this week at least…So I had to share these fabulous pair of pumps I found. They are a soft nude pink. So appropriate for Spring this year. I love it that I can use these, a blush tone instead of a flesh tone as a neutral. Here I’m wearing them with a pair of colored rolled up denim pants and a vintage inspired intarsia soft knit sweater. Perfect for chilly Spring mornings/evenings. A pearl and crystal necklace completes the sweet look. #fashiongram #freakycurry #spring2014 #summer2014 #charlotte #charlottefashion #charlottebloggers #charlottestreetstyle #pastels

“Humpday” motivation! You can tell I’m ready for Summer. Forget Spring! Saturated colors will be all over this Summer. We’ll see a lot of Orange, deep purples and reds. Found these gorgeous pair of embroidered shorts with a neat Aztec pattern. Paired them with an Orange chiffon top for an extra pop of color. A white blazer takes this outfit from casual to classy in no time. A pair of nude canvas sandals complete the look. #fashiongram #freakycurry #dooneyandbourke #shorts #aztec #embroideredshorts #spring2014 #summer2014 #charlotte #charlottefashion #charlottebloggers #charlottestreetstyle #toms #isitsummeryet

“Humpday” motivation! Tribal print maxi skirt with a soft chambray shirt tied at the waist to give it some structure. Tribal/world prints are all the rage this summer! Have fun with a myriad of colors and pair them with a solid top or even mix and match with a patterned one. Stack of bracelets complete the look! Great relaxed look to run errands or brunch with the girls.
Stay cute in 2014!

Humpday “bumpday” motivation! Since the Punxsutawney Phil predicted another 6 weeks of winter, I assembled today’s outfit as a quintessential “must have” in any women’s closet. Tights, boots and a top! Cannot get simpler than that. To keep it somewhat transitional for Spring, I paired a pair of basic fleece lined tights with a pastel chiffon top. Vintage tan boots break the monotony of the black tights. Kept it matchy matchy with a deep tan oversized tote. Silver and turquoise statement jewelry adds a sliver of femininity to the overall functional outfit. Hope you like it. Stay cute in 2014!

So.. Black and White are "in" this season! I know, shocker!! Created three looks for you today. The first look features my "Penguin" top. Paired with my printed black and white leggings. Booties and bold silver accessories to give it a nice play on the monochromatic look. The second look is what I call the "brunch date" look. Animal print silk dress(you know how much I love animal print) paired with an oxblood leather jacket to keep warm. Peep toes to keep it fresh and "Spring-y". The third look is a "girls night out" look. White silk blouse with metal details paired with faux leather leggings. Heavily accessorized with funky gold and silver bangles and a blingy clutch. Peep toes again to show off your fresh pedicure!

Keeping up with the anticipation of Spring, I styled this outfit as a perfect bridge between cool and warmer weather. Keeping the faux leather skinnies (cause I love them so!) and adding a simple cami under my statement clothing piece. The Collarless jacket! Oh so hot this Spring and you can’t beat the print on it! A bit of floral action speaks volumes on Spring and sunshine! Lil metal zip hardware on the sleeves gives it a rock n’ roll edge! And I had to add my Prabal Gurung multi color heels to look sassy! Statement jewellery still huge this season too! Hope you like it! Stay cute lovies!

After being sick for 10 days, I can finally breathe again! I am sick of this crazy weather! And besides Spring will be here before you know it.. (Like next week especially in the Carolinas).. This Spring is looking strong with pastels.. A lot of pastels! Suits, dresses, collar less jackets, you name it, you'll see pastels! Sooo very feminine and honestly not my favorite.. Yep, don't care for pastels much BUT I loved the way this turned out. The lace I feel added to the femininity of the outfit and with the right metallic accessories; I felt like a pretty lady! Not sure about showing your legs yet , add some patterned tights! Mixing patterns is going to be still "in" in Spring!

I love the color black. It can be somber but it’s also very sexy, classy, mysterious, and oh the list goes on.. Add a bit of lace with a nude backing, it’s oh so feminine..Add a fun clutch for a pop of color!! And add some fur.. You are talking sexy and fun!

Party1

Tis’ the season of bling! Jewel tones, metallics, statement jewelry!

Running errands

Running errands in a sweatshirt will never mean the same again! Try an embellished sweatshirt with a pair of patterned leggings. Comfy booties complete the look! Or how about sipping on some mimosas (virgin for me) with your ladies at brunch by adding some pearl and crystal accessories! Tis’ the season to shine!

Street

Whether you are a dressy “dress” person or more of a tomboy act or a person who straddles both these extremes, “own” your personal style! And always accessorize; With a smile!
Keeping it “street chic” today with a soft chambray shirt and a pair of faux leather pants. Added a polka dot cotton sweater to make it sweet.

The devil is in the details!! Big meeting today! Had to dress a bit sombre. Leather deets make a tweed skirt look not so boring.. Studded shooties and textured tights keep you warm and on trend! #freakycurry #fall #fallfashion #maternityfashion #rockthebump #hotmomswearleather

It is A.O.K to wear white after Labor day. Try Winter White (almost an off-white) this season for a classy and a sophesticated look. Small details like the pearl neckline and sheer sleeves add a little "whimsy" to a plain sweater. Pair it with the right shoes and accessories for a day or an evening look! #freakycurry #fall #maternityfashion #rockthebump #charlottebloggers
