Impromptu Shrimp Boil

2 pounds shrimp
4-5 baby red potatoes halved
2-3 ears of corn cut in halves/third
Broth:
1 cup beer
2-3 cups water
2 bay leaves
1 head of garlic
1 medium onion peeled and halved
1 lemon halved
Salt, pepper, red cayenne
1/2 Tbsp garam masala
Mix the “Broth” ingredients in a stockpot. Bring the broth to a boil and simmer on low-medium heat. Add the potatoes. Cover and cook for 6-10 min till a fork goes through it. Add the corn and cook for 5-7 minutes. Add the shrimp, mix well and cover the pot. Remove from the stove. Keep covered for 5-7 minutes. The shrimps will cook in the broth. Drain all using a sieve. Remove the bayleaves and serve with drawn butter, lemon wedges and cool beer.

Nariyal Maach

1 medium onion
2-3 tomatoes
3-4 cloves of garlic
1″ ginger root peeled
2 green chillies
1 Tbsp roasted cumin seeds
Blend the above without water.
1/2 cup of desiccated coconut
1 Tbsp ghee
Roast the coconut in the ghee for 5-7 minutes on medium heat till golden brown.
3-4 filets of light meat fish like Tilapia cut into 2″ pieces
In a saucepan, dry sauté 2-3 whole red chillies and curry leaves for a couple of minutes. Add 2 Tbsp coconut oil. Heat through and add the onions mixture in. Cook on medium heat for 8-9 minutes till the raw onion flavor goes away. Add the coconut and continue sautéing. Continue till the mixture turns a bit dry. Layer the fish in the pan and fold the mixture gently. Add about 1/4-1/3 cup of water just enough to cover the fish. Season with salt and cayenne pepper. Cover the pan and cook on medium hear for 10-12 minutes till the fish cooked through. Check for seasoning. The gravy should be semi thick and the fish should be cooked well and easily flaked with a fork. (Add more water if you like a thinner gravy)

Game Day “Humpday” Mantra!! And a sporty inspiration!

So, I am pretty stoked about my new fashion post! With various sporting events underway, I was inspired to write a post about fanatics.com, a fabulous online retailer for all of our sports needs. Be it college football, NFL, MLB or Nascar, you will find all that you need to show support for your favorite sports team! I am talking jerseys, hats, calendars, cell phone covers, you name it and they have it!! Perfect place to shop for a sports fanatic or even to add to your own collection.

My post today includes creating an ensemble featuring my favorite team’s hat and a few other accessories of my choice depicting my style. I am absolutely thrilled and beyond excited to be a part of this venture.

So my favorite Major league baseball team is the Yankees..I love love love Derek Jeter…and do you all remember the “new Yankee” from Sex and the City, LOL, so Of Course they are my most favorite team.. Not to mention they are the “NY” Yankees, from my absolute favorite city ever.. Here is the visual style board I created….

Fanatics

So for my “game day” look, I paired a slouchy vintage gray lightweight sweatshirt like blouse with a pair of washed out denim shorts. I added a pair of dual tone metallic flats that are not only cute but also functional for all the walking in and around the stadium and up and down those stairs.. A hammered gold cuff and a dual tone chunky watch plays well and are the only “jewelry” needed to make the outfit a bit lady like. A bright scarf rolled around the neck adds the pop of color that the outfit needs.. A tan fringe cross-body adds to the whimsy and serves the purpose when you are balancing your beer and brats in both hands.. And now let’s talk about the hat.. You know you need your favorite team hat! I chose this really fun camo NY hat for my outfit.. It’s cool, hip and sexy!

I think no matter what sport you follow, and what team you support, you gotta be ready for game day..!!

Make sure to check out Fanatics for all your game day needs!!

Hope you like the look! Stay cute in 2014!

So  NOW Let me introduce you to the fabulous Christina “Tina” Verma. She is a Younique beauty consultant and she is the one who introduced me to the fabulous mascara I have listed an absolute essential this season!

Look at the before and after pics of my lashes here!

Younique

Look at the sexy case!

Here is an excerpt of my interview with her;

1. How did you discover and What made you choose to sell Younique ?

A fellow yoga teacher invited me to an Online Lash Bash to share the news about this magical mascara; I tried it and was immediately obsessed! I knew right then that I wanted to host my own Lash Bash, aka online party, and tell all my friends     about it. On day 3 of my party, these lashes were selling like crazy, so I decided I’d rather earn the commissions for myself (along with my hostess rewards!) so I invested $99 to get my Presenter’s Kit, which comes with $400 worth of makeup in a   fantastic case AND a 3D Fiber Lashes mascara set!! This kit also includes my business website, back office, and PayQuicker (with debit/credit card) account which allows me to get paid every 3 hours!

2. What was your beauty regimen before using the products

My beauty regimen before Younique was mascara, blush, and lip gloss on a daily basis, but I had no real product loyalty. I have been searching for something that works and that I feel good about using, meaning non-toxic, cruelty-free, natural ingredients, and ethical business practices, but nothing really stood out for me.

3. What is your beauty regimen after you discovered Younique?

After Younique, my beauty regimen is mostly the same- mascara, blush and lip gloss, but with WAY better results! I’ve gotta be honest though- I’m having so much fun playing with all the new stuff in my kit that I’m getting more into makeup!! I’m experimenting with all the eye color pigments, and even dabbling in highlighting and contouring with the BB creams and concealers! It’s so cool how my face transforms with these techniques and products!!

4. What is the best part about this business? Personal growth, professional etc?

The best part about the business for me is this: I found my WHY. I’ve been ruminating on it ever since the Younique Convention earlier this month, and it took me a while to nail it down, but that’s because it really has little to do with me. As a yoga teacher, I got to see people getting healthy and happy by truly doing something wonderful for themselves; I was a catalyst for the powerful engine within them. I miss teaching for that reason, but I’m thrilled to discover that Younique has brought that back to me. I cannot express how deeply I care for my team members and the wins they want for themselves. Sure, it’s nice to get paid, but I would be honored to help my team reach their goals regardless of personal monetary compensation. The feel-good high I get from helping bring out the best (literally, the excellence that’s already within) in others is invaluable.

5. How can I become a Younique consultant?

If you want to join a fabulous company, with amazing products, and inspiring people, Younique is the way to go! “Our mission is to uplift, empower, validate, and ultimately build self-esteem in women around the world through high-quality products that encourage both inner and outer beauty and spiritual enlightenment while also providing opportunities for personal growth and financial reward.” It’s so much more than makeup, truly it is.
